Trade, Not War: Celebrating Community Innovation
Organized by the The Moropreneur Inc, Islamic Relief Worldwide – Philippines, the
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) with support from the Office of the
Regional Government of ARMM, the ANGAT DAPAT Social Fair will take place on
10 October 2017 at SKCC, ORG Compound, Cotabato City.
This whole day activity
aims to promote greater awareness and meaningful participation of the key
stakeholders (government, private and NGOs) in upholding the ANGAT DAPAT
Program. Furthermore, it intends to generate support from the industry and
business sector in creating market linkages to the newly established cooperatives.
A total of 900 community partners from the ten barangays in Maguindanao;
LGUs of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Datu Piang, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, South Upi and Sultan
Kudarat; regional line agencies; the province of Maguindanao; business investors,
UN agencies, CSOs and other partners will come together to celebrate this successful
initiative through showcasing of unique products, arts, foods, authentic traditional
music and dances—and a start for all community partners.
The Social Fair is the culmination of the eight-month long ANGAT DAPAT
Livelihood Program or All iNclusive Growth Activities Towards Development And
Poverty AlleviaTion – a pilot project of The Moropreneur Inc and Islamic Relief
Worldwide- Philippines with funding support from Islamic Relief Worldwide-
Australia. ANGAT DAPAT is implemented in five (5) municipalities in the province
In every municipality, there are two (2) barangays chosen based on
the provided criteria of selection such as high poverty incidence, climate resiliency,
cyclical armed conflict affectedness, LGU’s participation, and vulnerability to
environmental disaster like flood and drought. Through series of capacity building,
organizing and behavioural activities, the project resulted to the establishment of ten
(10) cooperatives registered in the Cooperative Development Authority in ARMM.
Using locally available raw materials such as corn, coconut, water hyacinth, pandan
and new technologies, the cooperatives have produced high-value products such as
corn coffee (tea), virgin coconut oil, soaps, fabric conditioner, apparels, handicrafts,
clothes, enhanced Moro delicacies, among others.
With a theme, “Trade, Not War: Celebrating Community Innovation,” the ANGAT
DAPAT Social Fair is a step towards the achievement of the shared vision of
empowered, caring and responsible peoples in ARMM co-creating innovative
solutions to attain su stainable peace and development.
